Looking for a delicious summer dinner idea?
Pasta with pesto, tomato, and mozzarella (use penne pasta, and make sure to add salt and pepper)- can be served hot or cold.
Garlic bread (any kind of fresh bread will do, melt butter and garlic in the microwave and spoon onto both sides of the bread, bake at 350 for 20-25 mins)
Salad
Wine (perfect for any and all meals)
Anywho, that's all I have for tonight! Enjoy!
Nothing like a little cooking, baking, crafting, and music to brighten a quaint Brooklyn apartment.

D.C. Bound
Home again home again. I said in my interests that I love adventures. This includes road trips. No matter how familiar. I began my trip by entering New Jersey and encountering a huge (or small depending on whether or not you are comparing to the real thing or the toy models) death star. I have no idea what it really is. Continuing on through the wasteland that is the new jersey turnpike I got to the Delaware memorial bridge. It is my favorite bridge on the drive from DC to northern destinations. I attempted pictures, but as you can see, failed. Upon entering Maryland I promptly say a confederate flag, and thought to myself "well hello Maryland. I cannot say I've missed this." And now I am home with my lovely and adorable kitties (photo credit to helen), and preparing to make a lovely dinner tonight (stay tuned for pics and recipes!).

Everybody loves chocolate
What does (mostly) everyone love?
CHOCOLATE!
I didn't just want to get chocolate though, so I decided to make fudge! This recipe is from my all time favorite cooking blog http://realmomkitchen.com/ (the fudge recipe is under candy in the recipe index). I made chocolate for her, an peanut butter chocolate for my boyfriend to bring to work. I HIGHLY suggest this recipe!
Ice coffee pops
So I'm about to head down to D.C. tomorrow, and while I am not looking forward to the extreme heat that awaits me, there will be AC. New York may not be AS hot, this apartment feels like a deep circle of hell. In an effort to stay cool I made myself some ice coffee last night. Today, when the iced coffee alone was not cutting it, I made iced coffee POPSICLES!
My boyfriend and I bought popsicle molds last weekend at target, but totally spaced on using them, so I poured milk into my sweetened iced coffee, stirred, and poured into my molds. I haven't tried them yet, but I'm VERY excited...now I am off to sit in front of my window AC unit and enjoy a popsicle.
Before I leave, here's how to make your own:
1) Make a pot of hot coffee
2) Sweeten (to taste based on what you like) while coffee is still hot
3) Stir in sugar completely
4) Cool coffee until chilled
5) Add milk or cream until desired taste
6) Pour into popsicle molds
7) Freeze
8) Enjoy!

The grid
So a while ago my boyfriend told me about this weird thing that happens in Manhattan a few times a year. Turns out the Manhattan grid is not only useful for directional reasons, but also for providing a beautiful sunset. Anyway, this article says more about it and when it happens.

Mod Podge craft
Just as I was about to settle in for watching Pirates of the Caribbean for the millionth time (just kidding, but it really would be my third time) on T.V. in the past week, I decided to create a blog. What better to start it off, than my favorite craft project. It is a great gift, or just something to decorate with.
What you need:
Piece of glass (could be a vase, a wine bottle, a box, anything you can find, or if you can't, Michaels http://www.michaels.com/ has a big selection of cheap vases, glass boxes, fishbowls, etc.)
Tissue paper
Mod podge GLOSS (http://www.michaels.com/Mod-Podge%C2%AE-Gloss/cp0370,default,pd.html?start=1&cgid=products-generalcrafts-modpodge)
Scissors
Paint brush
Instructions:
1) Cut tissue paper (use as many or as few colors as you want) into varying sized pieces. Cut into triangles, squares, rectangles, and other random shapes. Don't use all of the same shape.
2) Paint a small section with the mod podge... use a thin layer
3) Place tissue paper pieces on the layer of mod podge.
4) Paint another thin layer over the tissue paper GENTLY so that the tissue paper does not rip.
5) Repeat in small portions until the whole thing is covered.
6) Let dry.
